Camida has a strong and proud tradition of supporting women in business and in sport, locally, nationally, and internationally.
From our humble beginnings in Clonmel over thirty years ago, we have grown to employ over 50 people, the majority at our offices in Clonmel, and 80% of our team are female. Women hold leadership roles at every level of the organisation, including our Board of Directors and our Management team and the contributions they and the entire staff make daily has been pivotal to our success over the years.
As a pharmaceutical sourcing and distribution company, we play an important role in the Life Sciences sector in Ireland, a sector which in 2022 accounted for over €1bn in exports and employed 80,000 people directly and indirectly, across the many Pharma and Biotech companies now operating in Ireland.
Our support for women operating in the STEM space of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics is therefore very important to us, as it is vital to the success, not alone of our company, but of our industry, that girls and women are afforded every opportunity to excel in their chosen STEM discipline. Ireland has a strong collaborative eco-system supporting targeted programmes to achieve gender diversity in STEM subjects and we go out of our way to contribute to these initiatives.
We also see strong parallels between excellence in sport and in business and we are delighted with our long-term commitments to sponsoring the Tipperary Senior Ladies Football team. A recent PWC report, Impact of Sport on Women in Business, January 2023, cites the positive impact on skills learned through sport that have transferred into business. 90% of those surveyed said teamwork was the top skill that transferred to a business environment along with, Confidence (86%), Communication (74%), Leadership (71%) and Self-Belief (63%). Hence our support of and commitment to supporting the Tipperary ladies football team and other sporting organisations locally.
Our staff, our teams, our collaborations, and our associations are part of the Camida DNA, and we are excited and honoured with the contributions we make to helping women achieve their maximum potential.
