We caught up with Órla Heenan, Sales Director at Camida on International Women’s Day. Since the early days of Camida, Órla has worked hard, building and nurturing relationships. Today, she is one of the most successful women in the industry.

Naturally humble, the Sligo native will not boast about her outstanding career to date, she is far more focused on the future. “We’re always looking forward, you have to be at the top of your game and ahead of the industry to ensure the quality of service our valued clients expect. We pride ourselves on our ability to simplify their procurement needs, so they can get on with what they do best. Consistently delivering on our word is a commitment we take most seriously, clients know that when they deal with Camida.

”Órla’s accomplishments are recognised andadmired worldwide. A force to be reckoned with, she has earned the respect and trust of customers, suppliers and staff over the years. She has also climbed the corporate ladder, in addition to managing her own client portfolio, she leads the international sales team and is on the board of management.

You may recall at the height of the pandemic, the whole world was searching for the Covid-19 testing reagents, that ‘could not be got’? Órla Heenan sourced, secured, and supplied them for the Irish Government. Never more apt was the phrase, ‘not all heroes wear capes’ than that day! Her industry expertise and comprehensive knowledge of the global supply chain network together with sheer grit and determination ensured it. She sourced, supplied and navigated the product home safely, during the most difficult logistical circumstances the world has ever endured.

Camida is a proud outlier in many ways within the industry! Traditionally a male dominated sector, for over three decades now, the boys have been outnumbered at Camida. Today, over 80% of its 60 employees are female and women hold leadership roles at every level of the organisation. T

he parallel between excellence in sport and in business is well documented. Camida’s support of the local community is also undeniable. Long-term sponsorship of the Tipperary Senior Ladies Football Team is an excellent example of Camida’s unwavering commitment to levelling the field, nurturing home-grown talent and rewarding excellence.

Órla concluded “Our staff , teams, collaborations and associations are part of the Camida DNA. Women play a pivotal role in our success today and everyday. We have a strong and proud tradition of supporting women in business and in sport, locally, nationally, and internationally and on behalf of Camida I’d like to wish everyone a very happy International Women’s Day!”
