Accounting for Change

Did you know that 20% of all Bitcoin is lost forever due to forgotten passwords? That’s billions of dollars vanished into thin air! Recently, it feels like technology is advancing rapidly, with the world evolving quickly and new payment methods becoming more common every day. But don’t worry, we have no plans to venture into the cryptocurrency space and create our own “CamCoin”.

As CFO of Camida, I get to combine my love of numbers with something even more exciting: Camida’s digital transformation. We have embarked on a project to improve our processes through digitialisation. As we
implement this transformation, there will inevitably be some changes; but don’t worry: we will keep you informed and, if you have any doubts, please contact us. We have called the project SOAR (Software Optimisation and Application Re-engineering) but some colleagues quickly pointed that we mean the similar sounding word “sore”.

As a sponsor of this initiative, my job is to help streamline processes, boost efficiency and improve customer service through technology. Translation: fewer headaches, faster decisions and a whole lot less paperwork.

When I joined Camida in 2016, I was welcomed by a tight-knit three-person Finance team, who, despite my best efforts, still haven’t gotten sick of me after nine years. They remain valued colleagues and friends to this day.

The team has grown, the company has evolved, but the goal remains the same: deliver top customer service and exceed expectations, maintain honesty and transparency, and have a laugh along the way.

Outside of work, my wife and three young children provide daily lessons in patience, multitasking and adaptability. After managing breakfast chaos, homework battles and bedtime negotiations, leading a corporate digital transformation almost seems easy by comparison.

We’ve always been pretty good at finding solutions at Camida, whether it’s through procurement solutions or now through our digital transformation. We’ve prided ourselves on problem-solving and our ability to source materials from all over the world.

At the end of the day, this whole digital transformation at Camida isn’t just about fancy tech, it’s about people supporting people to making life easier for everyone. We want to take away the headaches so people can actually focus on what they’re good at.
